Care + Maintenance Guide
Your new outdoor furniture is a beautiful investment – keep it looking great by following our care guide below.
Upholstered Cushions
Our outdoor furniture collections feature cushions that have been upholstered in outdoor-specific fabrics, which means that they resist fade (although some degree of fade is always to be expected in a direct-sunlight application); and they are water resistant (not waterproof, however).
Please follow the care instructions on the label of your cushion covers and do not allow cushion inners to become soaked on a regular basis.
Sling/ Textilene fabric
Incredibly easy to care for as and clean when required – simply brush off any loose dirt or dust and hose off to start. A cleaning solution of water and mild soap can be applied using a gentle sponge or soft-bristled brush. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry.
Rope
A combination of premium-quality materials and precision-weaving creates a strong, durable rope that is simultaneously flexible, comfortable and hard-wearing - suitable for year-round use.
High levels of UV stability ensure that the rope retains its original colour for many years.
If constantly exposed to the sun (i.e.: on an uncovered terrace/ patio/ where certain angles allow for sunlight to constantly reach), the colour will fade slightly.
To clean, simply wipe with a little mild detergent and a clean, damp cloth.
Aluminium
Please do not use high-pressure washers or abrasive cleaning agents when cleaning powder-coated aluminium furniture.
Lightly dust off loose dirt with a soft cloth, rinse using clean water.
A cleaning solution of water and mild soap can be applied using a gentle sponge or soft-bristled brush. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry.
Synthetic Wicker and Plastic Resin
Lightly dust off loose dirt with a soft cloth, rinse off using clean water.
A cleaning solution of water and mild soap can be applied using a gentle sponge or soft-bristled brush. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry with a clean, soft cloth.
Teak and other natural woods
Please do not use high-pressure washers or abrasive cleaning agents when cleaning timber.
Timber should be lightly sanded and appropriately treated 2-3 times per year as required.
Note that wood is a natural product that can expand or contract due to temperature fluctuations - this may cause small cracks and colour changes over time, which is a completely normal part of the weathering process and does not jeopardize the integrity of the furniture piece(s).
It is recommended that you clean and oil your set after 6 months of use and repeat bi-annually, using an appropriate sealing oil available from most good hardware stores.
When exposed to moisture, surface fibres in the timber will rise slightly and take on a rougher texture - this is completely normal. Simply sand lightly with semi-fine sandpaper to re-create the smooth finish and follow with an oiling to restore colour.
For regular cleaning, you can make use of an everyday wood cleaner/ polish and should you choose to store your outdoor furniture during the cooler winter months, a cool, well-ventilated shed or garage is the most suitable space to do so. Over time, the sun will bleach the original golden-brown colour – to preserve the original timber colour, make use of a sealing oil as required.
Ceramic Tabletops
To clean, use a microfiber cloth to gently wipe, then apply a solution of clean water and mild dish detergent. A small amount of neat dish washing liquid can be useful in small areas to treat more stubborn stains. Afterward, wipe the table with a clean microfiber cloth to remove the cleaning solution.
Please handle with care and do not allow any person (including children) to sit on top of ceramic tabletops – they are not designed to carry heavy weights for extended periods of time.
When placing your tabletop onto the table frame be sure to remove all packing and avoid placing it down with excessive force or putting pressure on the edges.
Ceramic tabletops should always be handled by 2 people and held in a vertical position with the tabletop on its side.
High Pressure Laminate Tabletops
Scratch-resistant and easy to maintain, these tabletops can simply be cleaned with a solution of clean water and mild, non-abrasive soap. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry.
Umbrellas
The fabric canopy of our cantilever umbrella is made from outdoor grade 250g water repellent polyester with PA coating and UV80+.
To avoid wind damage be sure to close your umbrella when not in use and during periods of high winds.
We recommend using the included protective cover to shield your umbrella from the elements and prevent accidental rips or tears when not in use.
Spot-clean with mild soap and water as and when required, using a soft-bristled brush or sponge.
Please clean your umbrella and allow to dry thoroughly before storing.
